The wheel bearings are a sealed unit, very easy to change, just 4 bolts and a sensor plug in. But because they are sealed they usually don't go bad often. Unless you have a lot of miles on the car. Many front end grinds and noises that you might think are the bearings are actually brake pads. Be sure it's not brakes before buying a wheel bearing.
Jack up the front of the car. Take off the wheel. Turn the hub by hand. Check the brake pads, inner and outer. And see if you really still think it's the bearing.

Well the car has 113000 miles, my dad drove it back in july said that is what he though it was, the brakes are new, it happends mostly on the highway I get a grind/hum when I change lanes right to left. I think its my front right cause when I changed my brakes out I had a weird tug or drag on the wheel. I need to investigate it more maybe sometime this weekend ill try to take care of it. Thanks for the imput so far guys.

i usually tap in a small screwdriver and then move up to the chisel. i am talking about minimal effort taps. no bangs.
the bearing might not feel odd when you turn it and could still be garbage. ud have to replace to know.

I'm having a similar problem myself. It kindof sounds like a grating noise when it's coasting at low speeds, and it's not rotors or brakes, both are new. the wheels also only spin about 1 1/2 to maybe 2 times when the tires are in the air. shouldn't it go more than that?

If you have having a humming or grinding sound that could be a wheel bearing. Bearings in these cars are going to wear more frequently because of how we drive them.
rotating speed and cornering kills bearings!

The only difference I could tell between a whirling wheel bearing on a 2003 Impala was that the old one was slightly harder to turn. Installed the new one and the sound went away and the car stopped pulling.

I think my wheel bearing is going on the driver's side rear, during cornering I can "hear" a grind noise from the rear, straight at speed isn't a problem, but it becomes more pronounced when I am turning. Also, stepping on the brakes doesn't change the sound or get rid of it leading me away from thinking the brakes are done.

I have birds chirping in my rear wheels when cruising.Would lightly applying the brakes, making the chirping go away,be a wheel bearing issue? I have noticed some new grooves on the middle of my rear brake rotors...they are a little discolored from the rest of the rotor also.Pads still have meat on them...
