Default Power steering flush

Looking to do this and couldn't find directions on the 'Net. Anybody have a good writeup?

the best way is to use a real machine. but to do it your self, just take the return line and stick it in to a bucket, and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times. i'd do it with the car off but you could start it. do it till its empty. put the return line back on the resivor and fill it with new fluid, run the car and turn it lock to lock and then drail it again. just do that a few times

The air will burp itself into the resevoir, so it's self bleeding. Cycle the wheel lock to lock a few times (but don't hold it at the locks!).

Where is the return line located? Keep in mind I have a power steering cooler.

Just go to a shop and have them flush it out. They make machines for this now..

All i did was remove the hose that goes to the bottom right of the reservoir. Very easy to get to. I just took the hose off, and let the tank empty. Then filled it back up again. I believe that this is the return line, but cannot be 100% sure.

if you look a the reservoir there is a metal line and a rubber line. the metal is the high pressure line, that goes down to the rack, then the line comes off the rack in to the cooler, out the cooler and back to the reservoir. so ether line off the cooler would be ok

Not bad, but you only changed 1/2 the fluid. If you did this procedure 3 times you should have clean fluid.

Flushing it with a machine is even better, because it will get more of the contaminated fluid (teflon and aluminum grit) out of the rack.
