$900..

I want to see the Invoice for that, I find that hard to believe..

I don't see why Auto Zone or something like that would have one. Hell it mounts the same as the F-body, get you a Camaro one and call it a day..

I always go to places like Autozone or O'Reillys and trade the old core in for a discount and buy a refurbished one that comes w/ a lifetime warranty.

I HAVE BEEN ROYALLY F@#$ED BY AUTOZONE!!! I thought I would go to Autozone and save a few bucks when my alternator took a dump and was wrong. I got the NEW alternator and it died in 2 WEEKS!!! When I tried to take it back they bench tested it, wouldn't let me watch or give me a print out and according to them it passed and basically called me a liar and wouldn't give me another one. I took it to the GM dealer down the road and they said that the alternator WAS at fault. I bought a remanned Delco and have been fine ever since. I got a confirmation from the dealer that the alternator was bad and had to MAKE Autozone refund me.

Ask any technician that does this for a living, places like autozone or advanced have crap for electronics and you get what you pay for.

I don't know where you got 900 bucks but I payed 350 and they overnighted it for free for me.

Autozone alternators are known to be problematic. You can get a GM unit from GMPartsdirect for like $450 or so.

If one Autozone location gives you a problem, I suggest going to another one. Be polite, do not give them a hard time. If you are not satisfied, ask for the manager. But above all, be polite. I get excellent service at my Autozone, and have developed a friendly relationship with the manager.

I'm working on a bachelors in Automotive Technology right now. Most of my instructors have PhD's and most of them at one time have been techs for at least 20 years. They all Cringe when they hear a student say autozone or oreailys when it comes to parts and are ready to slap them. Hell even there prices for oil are ridiculous. Their parts are garbage if your not going to buy parts from a dealer go to NAPA their parts are a definitely a higher quality then that autozone garbage.

Uhh... no. They all source from the same companies. Difference is Napa slaps their own brand on, you don't know what you're getting and their prices are a lot worse.

You can find people who hate any company. This includes teachers. They are not perfect. And it just so happens that yours were wrong if that is what they thought.

That said, I like to buy parts at RockAuto because they've got a good selection of brands and their prices are great.

I've never had a problem with any Autozone Parts I have gotten, and I know a few people that work at the local one in my town, so I get a hookup if I need something.

Some have 30 years of experience of buying parts and fixing cars and their wrong?

Believe what you want, with what names are slapped on what or where the parts come from. The FACT is that in their decades of experience combined they have scientifically LESS problems with NAPA parts then any other place. That's real life experience not "they get their parts from this company they just put their own names on them so their garbage"

They don't hate the company they are just trying to show us good practice so when were on our own we don't look like idiots.

EXAMPLE: customer comes to your shop you fix his car with bullshit crap parts that break 2 weeks later then he comes back bitches at you then he tells everyone he knows that your shop is garbage don't go there and so on.

To each his own.

I've seen just as many "good" parts fail as compared to autozone parts..

Even more-so than your grammar.

Autozone sells good stuff and they sell horrible stuff. It depends a lot on what you buy specifically, considering that they often have a dozen brands available for a given part. But even still, even parts from quality brands fail now and then.

All of those teachers combined don't have enough combined experience to make any sort of decent statistics.
