98 Cavalier Z24 part 2 engine dies at any moment when driving
It's well over due for an oil change. And I just replaced the coil pack and spark plugs, and had the shifter greased so it would see "park" so the key would come out.
Sorry I can't edit the title but it only dies during idle.
Now, it dies during idle from time to time. What possible issues could it be?

Could be lots of things, you didn't mention if the SES was on or showing any codes. Dealer "diagnostics" around here go for about $80/hour. Hopefully it's something simple.

Well an Engine light and ETS light is on. When the ETS light came on, the car would shift hard as if in high RPM's. But it would shift hard during mild driving. It used to come off and on. Now its staying on. The car also randomly dies at idle no sputter just dies. And crankes back up. Sometimes when u give it gas you can feel the Trans hesitate and then slam into gear. It did this before due to a sensor issue. And I can turn her car on without using a key. The Keys would get stuck in the ignition. Now you can't put a key in it, and u can turn it on without one.

Wow didn't think a cavalier could have this problem but it sounds just like an issue my buddy had. Figure out if that trans uses a lockup torque converter. It may be the ECU is telling the trans to lock it when it shouldn't or it could be that the selenoid that actually locks it is engaging when it shouldn't.

Well, shop said they are done. $45 bucks. Cleaned MAS, and repaired a vacuum line. Cleaned-greased key solinod(can't spell) cleared ETS light. Said if the key still gets stuck over the week end its $85 buck part with 1 hour labor to replace. Key Cyclnoid part.
