Default Something in my oil

So today my cars low oil light comes on, and i think ok no big deal ive been 2600 miles on the same oil so it pobably burnt some. When i opened the oil cap there was a wierd substance on the lid. I took it to the chevy service and they said it looked like antifreeze in the oil. what would cause this problem. Has anyone ever incounterd this.

Was it just on the cap, or in the oil itself?

i just saw it on the cap, but my guess is that it is in the rest.
The chevy dealer also said either head gasket or the heads are cracked.

when you drive, do you usually do a lot of short trips? When I changed my oil a few weeks ago after it had been sitting for about a week I noticed some crap on my oil cap and I was like "oh sh*t, I think I have coolant in my oil" but after doing some research on this forum I found out if you let you car sit for a long time or do a lot of short trips you never allow the oil to get hot enough to burn off the condensation that accumulates more in the winter months. I think there has been a few threads that have popped up recently with people having the same problem. But just to be safe, go on a 20-30 mile drive, get the car nice and hot, let the car sit for an hour or so, then change your oil, and see if there is anything in there.

Don't assume until you check it out for yourself, the chevy dealer will assume you have coolant in your oil so they can charge you thousands for a repair that might not even need to take place.

In the winter I get some goo in the cap but nowhere else. And that has been on both motors, neither of which had bad gaskets.

car would not make good compression with a blown head gasket, it would sputter and typically blow grey smoke out the exhaust

Yea, it would run like crap it it were a head gasket/cracked head....you would know something's wrong. I always take very short trips in mine and noticed the cap had some moisture especially in the winter. Take a look at the oil and that will tell you for sure. You'll see the water in it or you should smell it on the dipstick.

Probably moisture from the engine not getting hot enough or not running for long enough. It has happened to me before. Do you have a 160* thermostat? Those usually do not let the engine get up to the proper operating temp in the winter so that will cause or add to the problem, trust me.
