Default Mod the SS or go GTO??

Decisions I tell you.... Have a chance to get into a sweet GTO that I found. Ive always like the idea of the LS2 motor and the fact that half of it isnt hidden under the windshield. Would you mod the hell out of the 01 SS or dump it and get the GTO?

Not that the 10 bolt is the end all or be all. I cannot stand the **** Poor IRS, and in terms of racing the car I think that it is the down fall of that car. I mean 03/04 Cobras had the same issue essentially and now see where the GT500 went, back to the solid, live axle.

As for terms of luxury, GTO has a better interior and you are starting off with more potential in the short block and heads.

The GT500 stated solid axle, for cost reasons, and the chassis was designed to be solid axle.

I like both my GTO and my WS6, but the GTO is a much better daily driver but stupid expensive to modify and weak drivetrain, ect.

Cost of manufacturing is always something to be considered but simply I hear no complaints from the new owers, aside from the weight but again this is an example.

GM has improved their IRS packages in the G8 and seems to have improved durability, only Posi dying after some hard racing but thats from what I have read.

I think the OP needs to decide the intended use.

Well which ever I decide on, neither will be a track car. Both will be my DD and while I love my SS, I just dont know about dumping the money into an 8 year old car now. I just want a very potent DD car and figured the GTO was a better platform to start with....

I say GTO. Camaros are sweet no doubt. But I think GTOs are just so much more refined. Fix a few weak links and you have a sweet ride.

I had to deal with this decision last year and ended up with an '02 T/A with only 25k miles. At the time GTOs were a good $5-10K more. Now that economy has tanked, I see '05-'06 Goats around my area going for what I got my T/A for. If I were buying now and wanted a mainly daily driver that will see rare track time, then the refinement and easy access to the engine of the GTO would win me over. I do prefer the cheaper cost to mod F-bods though. The 10-bolt will last with my goals and a decent Pedders rearend set-up on a GTO will cost a bundle comparatively, and that 2-piece/rubber coupling driveshaft blows.

HWI, what kind of hood is that on your T/A?

Have fun changing tires on the GTO every 15k. For some reason no matter how good the alignment is and no matter how easy you drive every GTO I have seen EATS tires. They are cool cars but I'm not a huge fan of them. But for some reason I do like g8's. Just wait till next year and get the new Firehawk

Yes, a lot of GTO's have suspension problems. But here's a fix: http://wretchedms.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=707

I'll be sure to let people know about that. A lot of guys who own them come in pretty bummed when they need tires all the time.

Yea I read an article in GMHTP where they did a full Peddler swap and the car was a different beast.
