Default High RPM power loss? missfire? video included...

It sounds like its pulling strong till it gets near 5000-6000 RPM and then you hear some kind of skipping sound in the exhaust note. whats happening?

Here is some info that might be relevant:
169K miles
Bolt-on only car with tune
SES light is for: low power to EGR (started last week). i could care less about the EGR so i haven't done anything about it.
replaced the alternator about 3k miles ago.

any ideas?

I can respect that answer, but its an automatic. why would the car not just upshift? so would i need to change the timing of the shifting?

I had a very busted tranny when I took it to be tuned, so they might not have changed the shift points, considering its now a stage2 upgrade with a 12 bolt 3.73, where it had no first gear, burnt clutches, broken accumulator springs and a "granaded" plastic sproket thing before.

any suggestions on what to do?

I talked to the mechanic and he said I need to let off the gas slightly and let the tranny build pressure in the line so it can shift. And nothings wrong.

I would have your shift points in your tune checked. I would bet that your rev limiter and shift points are set to close or at the same rpm's. It has been said before and will now be said again "IT'S ALL IN THE TUNE"

I have an update to what happened. Its not "all in the tune" this time. I took it to MTI racing in Marietta GA and the guy wrote 4 programs and couldn't fix it, so he thought it must have been a mechanical issue. Then i took it to "mad dog Loui" in Cummings GA and he realized it was HIS shifting kit in the tranny that was so sloppy or sluggish that it would rev an additional 800 rpm before finally shifting.
So he replaced it with a different type. Works great now.

I was gonna reply it sounded like your transmission slipping. Consider yourself lucky you dont have to replace the trans!

Mad dog was a moron, it wasn't his shift kit, many months later I realize now it was this torque converter. It's a sloppy POS. Time for some Yank action. For those who are wondering what a sign of failure could look like, watch the vid. It stays in neutral 4 too long and revs out of control in high RPM situations. Also sluggish shifting.

Glad you got it fixed, things like that will drive you crazy.

BUT....I gotta know....who's the complete MORON that told you that you have to let off the gas a little bit to make the tranny shift?

Please post who they are so nobody else goes to that idiot.
