*** Car dying randomly PLEASE HELP!!!! *** Not really lsx related but hope someone might be able to give quick insight. A friend has an 02 oldsmobile alero and they were driving down the highway and the car shutoff and the battery light and oil light came on at the same time. She pulled to the side of the road put it in park and it started right up. She drove another 2 or 3 miles and the same thing happened. Fired it up again and it's been driving fine for about 20 miles or so. Anybody have ANy clue?? im lost on this one, maybe a failing ignition switch? But then there is the oil light that came on? I asked and she said the car sounds fine and is driving normally (no clunks, ticking, tapping or whining). Please help!

No only right when it shuts off.

My friend picked up a buick with 90k miles from his grandpa. same thing was happening to him. We were on the way to the mall when the car did it twice and then the next time it started knocking when he started it. never diagnosed cause the grandpa gave him the money back and junkyarded the car but. the problem was never diagnosed but i suspect the oil light was not good meaning oil pressure was real low.

I disagree with the alternator. If the alternator was going out the battery would have been dead when the car died, thus not re-starting.
I am betting on Crank/Cam position sensor, check her fluid levels, but I doubt it's truely an oil problem. It's crank trigger ignition right? Individual Coils? Definiately a sensor imho.
