Rear main write up
) ?????? Also I have conflicting evidence do I need a special tool or not I wana get it done right the first time. The seal should pry out with a small flathead screwdriver. Don't worry about mangling the seal, but be careful not to damage the seating surface on the block.
Putting the new seal in: this is where there's probably a tool that makes it 50X easier, but just use an appropriate-diameter piece of PVC tubing that fits into the lips of the new seal to gently tap the new seal into place.

heres a pic right after i pulled the old seal out.. i just used a flathead and pryed around until i could just pull it out.. as you can see some oil will leak out

guide the new seal in with the plastic guide supplied.. then beat the new seal in using the old seal ontop of it with a hammer.. thats it! i also put a small bead of rtv around the seal just to make sure
hope this helps
