i actually took my mechanism out, found the 2 metal pieces were rubbing on eachother and it was very hard to turn. so i bent one a tad bit by hammering a screwdriver. now its as smoothe as the other side. its actually really easy to take apart if spraying doesnt help.

What you have to do is take the t-tops off first. Look at the release handle; there is a C-clip (its been a while since I did this, I'm trying to remember here) holding the handle on. Remove the clip and take-off the handle. With the handle off you can then take off the trim piece that matches the windshield pillar(A-pillar trim). With the trim piece removed you can see the locking mechanism. I then used painters tape(blue masking tape) and masked off the t-top (glass). Get yourseld some penetrant/rust remover and liberally spray the hinging points. There is probably some rust on the pivot points and this is whats making the locking/unlocking of the t-top hard to do. Get yourself a small wirebrush(like a toothbrush style wirebrush) and sandpaper. Clean all the areaswhere you see corrosion and the pivot points. Spray again with rust remover/penetrant. Once you're satisfied, if you have an air compressor, blow all the grime away. Use some brake clean and spray all the areas you cleaned and blow out again with compressor. Now...you can use a multitude of lubricants here: spray lube, antiseize and/or red grease/white grease or WD-40. I personally used clear spray lube and then I used a acid brush (very small thin looking paintbrush; about 1/4 inch wide) and applied antiseize paste over the spray lube I already applied. Put the handle back on without the cover and work the mechanism back and forth until it moves without restriction. Once its working flawlessly then pull off the handle, install the trim and re-install the handle!... DONE!
