Default Rear hatch fix?

PSJ had posted a link to a sight for fixing the rear hatch but i cant find it. Anybody else know where it is? It involves using a piggy back spring on the existing spring. Just dont know where the existing spring is. Drivers side, passenger side?

Mine doesnt work right either, seems this is a fairly common problem.

I wish it worked on '98s, but it doesn't! That's a '99 and up fix.

Evyl Id be surprised if it didnt work on your car. That would mean that gm used a completely different hatch mechanism than on 99 and up. Not likely but possible

99 did see a change but the hatch still works
by a spring that is too long/weak/slow.
I'd try it. It only took 5 minutes and the spring
was 75 cents. Sucks where you come out with
a couple cases of beer and the freaking hatch won't
pop or you have a ttop in your hand.

I've already tried this on my car, and no... it doesn't work on '98s... the '99-'02 latch mechanism is different. '98s use the same one LT1 cars use. One of my buds has a '00 and he did this fix, and somehow ended up with an extra spring... he offered it to me, we took my hatch area apart... and no dice.

i think i might have a fix thats easier than the spring and might work on Evils car as well. Time for fix 5 seconds (per side ). Open hatch look for black body screws made of rubber. Back rubber screws out maybe 2 turns on each side, DONE. Check hatch for opening. Turn out more if needed or back in if too much.
