If there is a trend that you have noticed and others have as well, we reccomend
highly that each customer bring thier concerns to our attention so that we may
log them into out system. This is one of the ways GM decides a recall is
necessary.
straight from the horses mouth! everyone should speak up if you wanted it fixed now and in the future.

I have the crack on the drivers side in the same place, its not quite a half inch long. I thought it was from the Dealer's body shop (though it wasnt cracked then) from when they replaced my door, cause they sure screwed up alot already!

Mine is on the passenger side, I live in FL, but I don't know if it's heat related, In took it to the dealer a few years back, it stayed for 2 days, and when I got it back, the crack was there
They said it was like that, and was screwed. Door panels go for like $150, if you can find someone willing to parts with just 1
and you need it the top trim piece.

I have not noticed this on my car but I have noticed bubbles under the paint on my roof panel (the black piece that runs behind the t-tops and down both sides. There is a TSB on this and you can read it here: http://152.122.48.13/prepos/files/Ar...01120-1025.pdf
Must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this TSB.
If you need to search for TSB's, Consumer Complaints, or to file a complaint you can do it from here: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr.../tsbsearch.cfm
Lots of interesting stuff on here.

I have a crack on my driverside door panel. I've heard alot of people complain about this too, I would take it in for warrenty but it ran out before the crack appeared. GM has always had problems with interior peices too. It used to be caused by the dye that they used. Seeing as my interior is black I don't think that the dye would be the cause because they mold everything in black.

I also have the cracks. One on each door about 1" long. A interior repair guy told me it was from the stress put on the panel from the power windows with no upper brace around the windows. I do believe heat also has a part in this. Poor design. This sucks. Priced replacements @ dealer. ~$550.00 each!

I finally fixed mine. I got a deal on a new door panel. The old one had been taken off and it had several tabs broken. I don't think that was the problem but maybe it hadn't been put back on right

That same interior guy said he knew someone with GM and that these panels are "designed" to fail in 3 to 4 years. I dont know this guy personally, just got a card and called him. He seemed pretty knowledgable but I hope this is not true.

My driver side cracked right after the dealership replaced the window motor so I had them fix it. But now my passenger side is cracked, which I'v never had off, and the drivers side looks like it is starting to crack again. This sucks

This just came up on the 30th TA board, and here's a DIY fix that a member posted :
http://www.30th-ta.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001363.html
I have small cracks on both doors. Might try this one of these days...

I have cracks in both my doors as well. My theory on why they split is body flex. The both started cracking after my converter, and my passenger side split all the way through when I did my cam swap. I think the stress of jacking the car up without SFCs is what finally did it in.
I now have SFC, hopefully they will split no more.
BTW - A dealership quoted my like $600 to replace one!

So far the only f-bodies that I have seen or reported cracks in the door or dash wre Firebirds I have yet to see a Camaro. Not sure it's it's because of the design of the dash or door panels.

i have it from the window to the leather insert on my passenger door, its about a centmeter wide now too.
i also live in nj, have a pewter car, and the windows are tinted pretty dark, so heat may not have a ton to do with it......

My car has been in the mid-south area since new, we get a good mix of hot vs. cold weather. The cracks on my doors are each a good centimeter wide, all the way down that top plastic part.
I talked to a buddy of mine who works in the service department at a local Pontiac dealer, he said he'd never seen this problem before.
