The DIY fix is probably worth a try. Mine arent as bad as his. I'll try a home fix before I pay for replacements. What happened to the days in this country when companies volunteered to take care of problems like this. This definately should be a recall.

I have the same problem. I have an '01 Formula and they panels are not under warranty. I think the Parts Manager said the part was a few hundred dollars to replace.

I have a 2000 WS6 TransAm and both of my door panals are cracked so i took them off and noticed that where the wether stripping for the side window .They are stapled on and there is a staple that is at the edge a bout 6" to 8" in that is where the crack starts and that is on bought door panels .I guess that some got to close to the edge and some did'nt. If yours is crack take your door panel off and see if yours is caused by the(staple)

Mine too, the owner before I got the car had used some filler to try and prevent the cracks from getting worse. Then with ~65K on the car, both cracks started getting bigger. The one on the passenger side is cracked all the way down that top piece. I am glad to know that I am not the only one, maybe we should contact Pontiac.

'99 TA has crack on both door panels; getting longer. My '02 doesn't have them yet. Any way to prevent it before it happens?

I did but I guess it wasnt official. I tell the Dumb A at the parts desk the problem and ask if they may be considering a recall. He replied, "you ought to just sell the car." Because my Mom raised me better I didnt jump the counter and choke the poor fool. There is a way to email Pontiac on their website. Maybe everyone should do this.

Damn, I got a half inch crack on my passenger door. My car is still under warranty but do I still have to pay labor costs at the dealership?

99TA, and I've got cracks on both as well. The passenger side is about 1" longer than the driver side crack.

Unfortunately I think I've developed one on my driver's side door. It looks like a white line maybe 1 cm long but and it's not just a scratch cause I can run my fingernail across it and feel a dip in the plastic. I didn't notice it until recently, and was just upset cause I thought I'd scratched. Now I'm really worried if it's cracking, cause I don't want it to go further then it is now. Is this how everyone else's started out? If so I'll definately be taking it to the dealership and get it fixed. Car is an '02.

I have 1/2" long cracks forming on both doors. What I'm gonna do to fix it, is the process removing staples, and replacing with rivets in the fix posted earlier, and using this "Liquid Plastic" product: http://www.hzemall.com/online_store/onlinestore.htm
The guy that sell the stuff also owns and operated a widely-known high end car audio shop, and has used this stuff in many installs to blend in tweeter pods and such to the factory Polypropelene plastic that our interiors are made from, and nothing seems to stick to. An alternative would be a product called Duramix 4040, and is used in car audio for the same applications. Be sure that the plastic is scuffed up on the areas the compound is applied to on the inside. It's either this, or replacing the entire door panel.
