Default Is this the correct part for headlight?

From gmpartsdirect:

Description Year MSRP Price Your Price
Low beam Left - 1998-02 - $166.10 $103.65

My drivers side headlight just went out and I think I know how to replace it but wanted to be sure it is the right part. I couldn't find the part # on their site. I attached an image also. It is number 7 in the image. That's all I need, right?

Thanks.

Can you just replace the bulb in the headlight?

I see on the back where the wire connector pulls off the whole unit but does it also twist or something to pull the bulb out?

I am not sure where you are getting your lights, but mine cost like $8-$20 each depending where I buy them. When you remove the plastic shroud off the front of the headlight area, there is a retaining frame around the bulb. Remove the entire glass bulb, throw it away and replace.

Thanks. I guess I am looking at the wrong part.

Just to clarify. You guys are saying that the whole square glass piece needs to get replaced and that it shouldn't be more than around $20?

Thanks very much for the help.

The funny thing is that I have owned the car since new and I don't ever recall changing the headlights. I've changed the DRL's plenty times and that was simple.

I just noticed the light was out and I didn't really take a close look. I assume the plastic frame in front is connected by just a few screws that are easy to remove.

Correct again. I have only changed mine one on this bird, a couple times on my last one. You might just want to pull off the back plug and plug it back in, sometimes just a loose connection will turn it off. My driver's side blinks off about once a month and comes back on before I get home....makes me mad, because I always forget about it until it happens again...lol

I will try re-connecting the plug first. Thanks for the advice!

BTW - If you change the light, be sure to turn the correct screws! There are four screws that hold a metal frame on the bulb - one in each corner.

Don't turn the screws in the middle of the top of the unit or in the middle of the side. These are for aligning the bulbs - and you don't want to go there. (Its a horrible design.)

Everything went fine. I picked up the headlight at Autozone for 12 bucks. It was pretty simple and no I didn't touch the alignment screws.

Thanks again everyone!
