They aren't expensive and you should be able to get prices online. Be sure to go with the Dorman design! Its "new and improved." Lots of problems with the original design and you are most likely to get reman parts with it. The Dormans are new units and I haven't seen anyone report issues with them at all. (The OEM design has all sorts of issues.)

Anything done at a dealer= MAJOR $$$$. Would be alot better to shop around other auto repair shops to get quotes for the replacement.

how can you say that,do you work for a dealer. they go by a quoted hourly rate, and use a guide just like other shops do for the time. if other shops are cheaper then most likely so is the work or the are using cheap parts and or used.

Because dealership repairs are notoriously expensive? I've got a family member with a grand am who needed 2 window motors, and the dealership wanted to charge her 500 for the operation.

ok, did that include parts and labor? if the book says the job takes an hour and a half per door and the shop rate per hour is $85. that would be $255.00 plus parts. this is only to try and show how the dealer works along with how a reputable shop should work. now if you local guy can give you a break, you have to remember most shops may only employ a handful of employee's. where a dealer will more than likely have 50 to a hundred, plus the expense of buying or have a credit for new cars, have a inventory of used cars and have the expense of maintaining parts inventory computer system's appearances. so if the dealer cant cut you the big break you want, please remember they are there to make money just like you and everybody else. oh and just so everybody know's those numbers are not real, i dont know what the job require's as far as the time goes, or what those particular parts cost.

I work at a dealer and our rate is 96.50 an hour, which is competitive. Also, the people who work there know there cars very well and are more likely to find the problem and less likely to mess something up. OEM parts are usually the best way to go aswell.

I bought the motors at Advance Auto, then went home and called about 4-5 auto glass shops and kept asking what they would charge to put them in for me. I found one that charged me $20.00 per door. I showed up with my door panels off already. It took the guy about 15 minutes per side.

There is a nice write up on replacing them on this forum somewhere. I used it when I replaced my drivers side.

Someone should make this a sticky....... This probably gets asked a lot cuz i know that the motors go out often enough.

Do this (follow below link) and it will save you a bunch of time.

Check out this thread for guidance on your alignment issue. You can hop on there if it doesn't guide you to your problem: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...de-window.html
