window starts clicking at 1 inch before being rolled up
If I hold down the up button on my driver's side window it starts clicking right before the window is almost rolled up (about 1 inch away). In order for me to get the window to roll up fully, I now have to tap the up button when I get close at the top.
It's a 2000 SS, anyone know what this might be?

Your replacement window motor was probably bolted to the regulator? Those bolts have probably become loose, allowing the motor gear to disengage the regulator when it starts feeling resistance as the window comes to a close.
Tighten with some thread locker and that should probably do it.

So it looks like I need a new regulator. What would cause this??
Would you guys recommend I spend the $54 at autozone for a new motor while I have the door apart, the GM replacement was installed in fall 2005.

Yea, time for a new reg. If those are the teeth that mesh when your window is almost all the way up, your last motor was probably not installed with the gear fully engaged. (Or it may not have been loose against the regulator.)
While you work on a repair, you might have some luck pulling up on the glass when you shut the window. This should keep the popping from happening but requires that you have the door open.

Be careful. This is what happens when you use the wrong rivets: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...-included.html

Many people use bolts for the motor to the regulator. I'd recommend using rivets for the regulator to door connection, though. They will be much kinder to the composite door. (There are special rivets that you need to get through GM.) The rivet gun needed is heavy duty, but any auto glass shop should be equipped with one.
