Default Z28 revving on its own while in park

Hi,

I have a 1998 z28 and it is currently off the road. I start it about once a week and today when I started it the RPM's were going back and forth between 1000 and 2000. It doesnt do it when I put it in drive. Is it just because it hasnt started in a while this is happening? It seems to lesson a little after the engine warmed up. I had to shut it off after 3 min cause the over revving was too loud for the neighbors. Anyone experience this? Thanks

maybe a vacuum leak? Try spraying a little brake or carb cleaner around the bay and see if you can find one.

IAC valve might be on its way out.

Take it out and spray it with MAF cleaner or WD-40 and toss it back in...thats about all you can do to clean it.

Top of the TB on the drivers side. 2 torx screws hold it on. Unplug it then take it out slowly and make sure the spring doesn't fly off. If its acting up you never know if its fully extended when you remove it.
