Original Heater Hoses

Original Heater Hoses
I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. How have your original heater hoses held up over the years? Have they needed to be replaced? And if so, was it mileage related or just the years piling up?

Car is completely stock with 19,000 cruising miles. It was built Nov 2000. As the 10 year anniversary approaches I was looking into what might needed to be replaced. I've changed all the fluids naturally just for the possibility of water condensation. The belt looks excellent as do the hoses BUT I was wondering if these things should be replaced due to age only. We take trips to FL once in awhile which is 600+ miles one way and don't want any issues from something that should have been replaced. Asking the dealership or mechanics will just get me a "yeah, you should do it" answer whether it is needed or not. Not looking to throw away $$ if it is unnecessary.

I keep it right next to my backup serpentine belt.

If the hoses feel pliable (not soft) similar to the way a new hose feels, and this includes radiator hoses, then they should be ok. If the feel soft and mushy, then they are bad. If they feel hard, same thing.

If you do decide to replace any or all of them the Blue Goodyear super hi miler 100k hose kits are pretty good, this is the LT1 kit from Summit, not sure on LS1 kit number.

Thanks for the responses. Mine still seem 'like new' using that physical description even after 9+ years. Garage kept and low miles must be the reason. They must make rubber more 'long-lasting' than in the past when just 5 years would sometimes spell doom for hoses.

are you all talking about the ones under the hood or in the car. Mine underneath the hood are gettin mushy and not clamping well. I cant seem to find the part number for them I'm talking about the ones that go from the water pump then into a pressed metal pipe and fitting then into the firewall.

Both
See the previous post. The hose you're talking about is a heater hose.
