Oil drain plug leaking....suggestions?
I just changed my oil on my SS, and i noticed a couple of hours later that the drain plug was leaking....couple drops, nothing major....but just enough to drive me crazy. I torqued it down to the correct torque and everything, i guess the seal just went bad. Anyway my question is, im going to have to get a new one and with that comes draining of the brand new oil. Im going to go get more oil, but im not going to change the filter because its brand new this past saturday....i know the filter accounts for some of the oil, so how much oil should i put back in? I put 6 to begin with because a couple of seasoned ls1 owners told me to run 6...Should i put 5.5 in? 5? I dont really know. Any suggestions would be great. thanks!

Thread sealer or an O-ring. You dont need a new plug unless the threads get stripped. And a good rule of thumb is the oil filter holds about a half court of oil. Unless we start talking truck filters. So I would put 5.5 quarts in it of youre not changing the filter.

When I put together my friends ls1 the felpro gasket kit came with a very nice drain plug gasket....Im pretty sure ive seen them for sale individually at advance or somewhere. So far no leaks at all
