Default Am I right?????

The oil consumption from my car is horrible!!!! I would sometimes need to add a bit of oil from time to time and now is has gone to the point where the low oil light comes on about every 2 weeks or more. I thought that it was normal before since I've read that these cars eat up oil but now it's a problem for sure. About a month or two ago is when I saw white smoke from the exhaust. So I must have a bad ring or something correct???? Now what I really want to know is if I should be changing my oil even though I'm adding new oil every couple of weeks before I get around to fixing it???? What kind of damage does this create???? I mean the engine is still kind of young she only has about 77k miles. I was planning to spray the car but now I'm scared since it could have some damage from this problem Any opinions are much appreciated thanks fellas

The white smoke wouldnt be oil...it would be water. You could have a blown head gasket causing the loss of water and oil. You should also check your water for oil and vise versa to help narrow it down...especially if you havent changed the oil/filter in a while.

Even if you are adding oil, you still have to change it.

5 quarts of oil added doesn't equal an oil change.

Sounds like you already did spray for while and lost some compression.

No I have never sprayed the car or have changed the pcv valve. I use to run the car A LOT which I'm thinking is responsible for whatever I messed up. I'm taking the car to my mechanic tomorrow to see if he can find what it is. Hopefully I don't spend too much for whatever it is. It's alright though I'm trying to fix her up and have her 100% again I haven't really raced her since the tranny started slipping a little over a year ago

I know changing a ring can probably get pricey but how much should I expect to spend if it's a bad head gasket or ring???? I trust my mechanic he's always been good with me but I just want to be sure....
