Default Turn Signal Issues

I just bought a 93 Z28 last night, and noticed that with the head lights on the left turn signal indicator stays lit all the time, the right side works fine and blinks as it should... Neither of the driver side blinkers work at all. Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you sure that this only happens with the headlights on?

It sounds like either the front or rear left side turn signal bulb is blown.
Turn the key to accessory and play with the turn signals, It should blink on the right side but the left side probably has a blown bulb.

the turn signals on the driver side don't work at all, whether the headlights are on or not. The indicator light however only stays light when the headlights are turned on. I'm going to get new bulbs today, hopefully that takes care of it.

Well, all of the bulbs are good. I took it by a shop today and they checked the flasher which was also fine... now we are down to the mutlifunction lever, I can get the part directly from GM for way less than the local parts stores, so I guess that will be next..

I was going to suggest to check the flasher unit next, but I'm lost after that as well.

Don't believe the "shop." Test the stuff yourself. Especially if you didn't pay for the service. Most likely you have a bad bulb or socket. If you turn switch was bad, your cluster arrow wouldn't light. Do your turn bulbs also light solid in addition to your cluster? If not, it's definitely a socket or wiring issue.

the turn bulbs also light solid along with the dash indicator.. The thing that led them to deciding it was the lever was that the turn signals work fine when the car is off, but not when it is running... Maybe a wiring issue?

Check the sockets. I had a similar problem. My turnsignals wouldn't do anything with headlights on cause moisture got to sockets. Changed the sockets now they work fine.

the sockets did have some kind of yellow junk in them when the shop took them out, but we puled the tail light out and all of the lights were on and working... I'll spend some time tom cleaning all of it out, hopefully it'll work.

So your saying that when the key is onto accessory (engine isn't running) the left & right signals work. But when the engine is running the left signal doesn't work?

If thats the case, then the lever is not bad. The shop is just guessing and making you buy parts.

I 'd swap the right side bulbs (front and rear) to the left side to see if any thing changes.
(Put some dialectic grease on the bulb's base when you insert 'em into the socket also).

If the right side bulbs don't show any positive change then a socket might be bad.

just went outside to check, with the accesory ogn the drivers side front turn signal stays lit with out blinking, the rear doesn't light at all... So I'm assuming rear tail light issue?

ok, update.... I put new bulbs in the rear, but still no luck. I turned the hazards on and everything blinks like it should... Really confused at this point.

I tried to edit, but it didn't work from my phone. Tried swapping the bulbs and now all signals blink as they should ONLY with the hazards on. When just using the signals the left side still iluminate but don't blink.

Ok so the sockets and bulbs check out good on the left rear.
Did you also swap the bulb on the left front from the right side?

If the bulb from front right side doesn't work that means the front left side socket needs to rebuilt/ replaced.

I'm not sure if '93 fbodies had parking lights, if yes , do your small corner bulbs work?
Its the small 194 LED bulb.

ps: my passenger side signal bulb blew out in the car wash today, thanks for rubbin this off on me too.

This is a bad turn signal flasher. This has happened to me several times. Electrically, left and right are never identical - so the flasher may act up only on one side when it gets weak.

If all the lights work properly with the parking lights on and then with the hazzards on, that confirms your bulbs and sockets are good. The fact that the bulbs light solid confirms your switch is good. The only thing left is the flasher.

Ok, well I will be picking up a new flasher and replacing it over the holidays. Thanks for the help guys, I'll update as soon as I get it put in. Happy Holidays...

And Bad 408 Vert, that sucks about your light, I hope yours is easier to fix than mine has been. haha. And speaking of car washes, I dont even know if I can take mine in a car wash because of the opti... I'm still learning what I can and can't do with that thing.

Well I replaced the flasher and still nothing... I tried another round of bulb swapping and replaced the flasher, but nothing changed. I did notice however that if I fully lock the bulb into the socket it does not light, and inorder for it to stay lit, I have to barely twist it into place. Maybe it's a bad socket? I'm getting more confused everyday.

Are you sure you replaced the turn flasher and not the hazzard flasher?

Yea, the turn signal flasher is a cylinder and the hazards is a square.. I checked everything once I replaced it and still had the same results.
