Default coolant leaks and ends up on a/c compressor

i am having a coolant leak and i can't seem to pin-point where it is coming from. i just removed my heads to change my setup and there were no leaks there. i do not see it on the block at all or on the water pump. i will get a few drips that end up on the bottom of the a/c compressor. i have no idea where it could be coming from. any suggestions?

Me too. Very perplexing... Has anyone seen this before and found the cause? I don't see any coolant lines in the neighborhood.

i have looked all over the block and i do not see a drop of coolant or leaks anywhere. the only thing that i can think of is that is coming from the heater core or a hose connecting to the heater core and ending up on the bottom of the compressor. i will need to look closer to see if i can find anything but i could not find anything at all the last time i looked....

Check the lines that go into the side of the water pump from the heater core. Your car is a 2000 so the lines are probably 11 years maybe older now. Even a tiny crack under the clamp will expand when the coolant is hot. Following the rules of gravity most of it ends up under the AC compressor as a drip. Cant remember but do 2000's have EGR? Mine is a 98 and without EGR hooked up so it is pretty easy to see those lines. I recommend if you can, get rid of EGR all together it makes general maintenance easier.

I had the same problem once and for the life of me could not figure out where the leak was coming from. Then one day I checked the entire radiator and coolant lines and found that my leak was coming from the coolant expansions tank under the battery. It was actually the line ontop of the tank and all I did was seal it with some high temp silicone and have not had the problem since. Maybe this will help you.

Pressure test the cooling system?

How so? Doesn't seem to get in my way of spark plugs and wires, engine oil drain plug, oil filter, air cleaner box, etc.....

I don't think its coolant. I looked at my car today and the only thing in the neighborhood are the heater hoses and they are bone dry.

I'm wondering if a sealed bearing on the A/C compressor is starting to leak, or something like that...

But the A/C is as good as new. If the refrigerant was leaking, the A/C shouldn't cool, right?

It will cool untill the R134 is almost gone and the pressure sensor tells the compressor not to run, mine is leaking now and yes it is orange like dexcool.

Mine leaked for 6 months and still blew cold. Its just a slow leak. But I also saw what looked like green coolant on the bottom of the compressor. I use Dexcool, so I immediately knew it was a leaking compressor.

Any worries running the A/C if there is a slow leak? I imagine that oil leaks out also and it could all end in compressor failure, right?

Im wondering this as well. Mine has been leaking for so long though... AC still blows freezing cold.

Seems to be coming from the same area as seen in the picture in this thread....

Thats exactly where mine was leaking from, thats where it ends up when the seal starts leaking.

I'm not sure...but I would think that the oil in the system would be sufficient to lubricate things until you lost so much refridgerant that it shuts off by itself from low pressure. Mine ran perfectly for 6 months. I never lost enough where it shut off by itslef, I just had it changed after about 6 months. But it never froze up from low oil.
