Unhappy Car Running like ****

My 2000 camaro SS Six Speed is running like **** and getting bad gas mileage, im currently running only one o2 Sensor right now (the driver side pre cat Sensor) would that cause my car to run like **** and get bad gas mileage??? my passanger side O2 Sensor is fried....( its cut from the PCM box down...suggestions appreciated...... If anything where can i get that part that connects to the PCM and runs into the O2 Sensor on the Passanger Pre Cat O2 Sensor??

Yea, the fine print in the factory manual talks about the post cat sensor being used for fuel computations, although one wouldn't think that would be the case. I had a bad post-cat sensor, replaced them, and only got a modest bump int he mileage.

This time a year, we also have more ethanol in the gas, which reduces mileage somewhat. What are the numbers you are getting? What kind of modifications are on the car? Are you getting any codes?

Do you have an oil-able air filter and/or have you cleaned your MAF? I had a similar issue when my old K&N filter fouled my MAF.

The lack of an 02 sensor would cause the car to run crappy to fix it i suppose you could just splice in new wires where the old one is broken and rerun it to the o2 sensor but youd need a new connector for the end of the harness. Another thing you could do being you have lt's would be too switch the pins at the pcm harness for the pass side rear 02 sensor with the front one, you dont need the rear o2's anyway but it will set off an ses light unless tuned out. also clean your maf it could also be causing some issues esp if its throwing a code

You can definitely get a new connector. The catch is that you need a special crimper to put the new terminals on. Or... are the terminals on the wires? (I can't tell by the pic.) I can help you find P/N for all that easily.

It looks like the sheath has been torn - but the wires were not. Do you know what happened? That sheath insulates the wires from the exhaust heat and you'll want to replace it to protect the wires. (I'm not sure where you can get such a thing, though.)

Do you have the other end of the sheath still attached to the sensor and male end? If so, you might be best off doing a good splice of the wires and then using a high-temp tape to hold the sheath together. (I'm not sure if you can get a new O2 harness as a part.)

The wire on the sheath is not long enough to reach the male end of the 02 sensor because it was cut by sum unk object...i called a chevy dealership and they told me that the part runs for about $60 or so I need some input on this because idont wanna spend the money since i gotta pay for something that i cant even see what it is before i get it, i looked up 02 sensor connector and it shows somthing for about that price and i dont remember aeekng that on my car ..... If i finally find out what that part is i can finally go back to driving my ss without hesitation and purging problems

Did the Chevy dealer give you a part number? In my parts listing, I only see a p/n for the connector and the entire engine wiring harness. (You don't want to know what the price is for that....)

Just buy an O2 extension from one of the sponsors and cut/splice/solder in what you need to whats left of your wires.
