Default Can Front Wheel Studs Be Replaced?

Probably a noob question but can front wheel lug studs be replaced or do you need a new hub assembly? I have a 2000 TA. Thanks.

Dont need a whole hub. Pound them out with a hammer and pull them in with a nut.

Thanks for the response. Would the use of a press facilitate this much? (I don't want to spend an entire weekend afternoon pounding with the BFH) If so I'll just take the hub off, take it to a shop with a press and have them remove the old stud and install the new one. Then reinstall hub myself.

pressing it in would be the "correct way" but i'd just beat it out and use an impact to pull it through. if you were doing all of them, i'd take it off an get them pressed in though.

You can use a press but plenty of us have gotten by with just a hammer, socket set and good aim...

they actually come out really easy with just a regular hammer, no need for a mini sledge or nothing. i just put a rag over the end of the studs to quiet the noise a little. couple of good hits they come out easy. Pressing them back in was pretty easy as well, just took a shallow socket and put it throught the stud, and then used some old lug nuts to crank down on them and sucked the splines right into the hub. Make sure to use plentyof lube makes it easier. And make sure its old lugs your using, because they were trashed after installing the studs, but the studs were fine.

Just remember when you smack on that stud you are also hitting on the rollers inside the bearings in the hub. I personally woooood buy the cheap stud removal tool. http://www.ehow.com/video_2327338_re...-nut-stud.html
