Default so I saw some smoke coming from my front end...

Turns out that my foglight bulbs were melting through the fog light housing.. Which pisses me off because now they're destroyed..

Looking for new options now.. Any ideas? I don't want to put on another set and have them melted again..

Did you put any kind of aftermarket bulbs in it or something, I have not ever heard of this problem.

Yup, aftermarket, but I don't know why they would fail. They still light up..

You can get glass housings for the foglights, it would be pretty hard to melt through those!

Yea that makes sense. What temperature bulbs are you running? (I'm assuming they're HID's)

Theres a set made by Pilot thats is cast aluminum back, glass lens that I have... I put the 100w KC H3 light in there, and added a new relay circuit just to be safe (the stockers are 27w?) and they're still going strong.

4" fog light, they even make some with Halos on them if you want.
Colored lens to effect the light...
All things considered I'd definitely get them again.

Of similar construction, I also have the LMC Truck housings for my flip up lights, with 55w 4300k HIDs in the highs (I don't care if they don't like being flashed.) and haven't seen any damages to those housings either.

What is a good stock replacement that I don't have to do crazy modifications to.

Just experience the same thing with melting my fogs after using aftermarket bulbs. I had the correct wattage but I believe the bulbs weren't properly seated inside the lamps. I've since bought some more stock repalcements.
