Default Best way to fix tired slow windows?

Where is the best place to buy window motors for a 98 z/28. Both of my windows are slow and just wondering what is the best fix for the driver and passenger side motors, that will hold up for a few years. Thanks

Auto trix makes a kit that will boost your window motors speed and ironically make them last longer. WS6store carries them.

convert to manual roll window and never worried about replace window motor every year or so hehe.

I preview camaro, using advance auto part window motor, it been 2 year and it still work fine, i know cause I sold the car to my friend, he hang out often. Here the tips, when u roll window down, dont let it go all the way down, cause it will make alot stress to on the motor to roll it back up. alway leave a bit up.

I'd avoid the Autotrix kit. IMO - its just a band-aid oil and just makes a bad motor look better. (You can get new good lifetime warranty motors for around the same price.)

IMO - The best option is to purchase the Dorman motor design from any auto parts store. (I actually switched to a more expensive aftermarket regulator/motor combo before Dorman came out with the new design.) The Dorman has all new parts, a more durable design, and we've yet to see any members here with a failed one.

Too sick of this topic to comment any further especially when the root cause has not already been mentioned. Sorry.

Agreed, people complain about having to replace the window motors, but it's a simple job. I replaced one on my dad's 2002 Z28, I was rather impressed with how easy it was. Works like a champ now!

Not the track. If the rollers get out of round, you can replace those - but that's a PITA. No need to take action unless you are having a problem.

A good thing would be to lubricate the tracks while you are in the door. You'll need a good silicone based grease to do this. I use Syl-Glide, which you can get from any NAPA. (Its a special water proof grease for door track and old school brakes. It stands up really well to the moist environment inside the door and is compatible with the stock track grease.)

Isn't the regulator another name for the TRACK?

No. On these cars; each door has one motor and one regulator; attached together. That regulator has three rollers on it, which ride in two tracks. One track is riveted to the window and the other track is bolted to the inside of the door.

In addition to that, there is a roller on the back of the window that rides in another track bolted to the back inside of the door.

You'll want to lube all three tracks in the areas that the rollers move.

Just two Dorman motors are the least expensive and least amount of labor to get them back to spec. (You can always add other stuff later, if you want.) Just make sure you get the Dorman motor.
