Default driver's window rattle

I've replaced the window motor on my drivers side so it goes up and down fine. my problem is that the window rattles a lot if it is not all the way up. it's scratched my tint off all the way down the window. anyways i took the door panel off and noticed something odd. i took some pics of it. i need to get this thing supported how it needs to be so i can retint my windows and not mess them up. also both alighnment mechanisms are there with felt pads and against the window properly so that is not the problem

pics of what i'm concerned about:

Unless the window is all the way up or all the way down, it will move a lot. This is a "feature" of the design.

That plastic hook is absolutely needed. It engages the upper stop behind the door panel. The upper stop secures the window all the way up and keeps it from ripping your weatherstripping off, breaking the glass, etc. It doesn't have anything to do with the rattle.

Where is your tint being scratched?

You may also make sure the anti-rattle sleeves are in the correct place on your door handle rods and make sure you don't have a loose motor or regulator.

Check the fuzzies that hold the window against the outer door weatherstripping. If one of them (2ea) is broken, as they commonly are; you need to replace it. I have a pair laying around I was selling, I can take a pic if need be. The "rattle" is metal on glass.

this kind of rattle isn't normal. my passenger window doesn't do this at all. the tint is scratched about 8 inches or so from the back of the window. the felt is in place on both pieces that stabilize the window.. thanks for the info on that hook. i wasn't sure what it's purpose was.

how can i check the regulator. i had a guy with the same problem tell me he had a bad regulator

have you actually taken the door panel off to inspect the window brush assemblies or did you just pull the top of it back to see if it was there? If not, you need to pull the door panel off and run the window up and down to see if it is actually staying in place. Ask me how I know.

Take the speaker out and use an inspection mirror to look in there. You also have a good look from the back under the clear plastic.

i took the plastic all the way off the door today and got a good look inside the door to see what the problem is. the worst of the movement seems to be in the front of the window. I mean it's as loose as could be i can move it side to side at least an inch both ways in the front when the window is all the way down. (thats at the bottom) i can also pick up on it about an inch. it is on the the tracks and everything seems to be connected correctly...but somethin has GOT to be worn out.

Impossible if something isn't attached or off a track. Did you check the roller that attaches to the rearward vertical track? They break often and are what constrain the window from moving side-to-side.

If you can tug on the glass and have it move, 100% something is broken.

The glass mechanism is constrained at 5 points. Two rollers in the channel attached to the glass, one roller in the channel attached to the lower inside of the door skin, one roller attached to the vertical track at the back of the door, and the four rivets attaching the regulator to the door.

If your glass moves under manual "manipulation" then one of those five items is screwed up. If you have side to side movement, its probably the rear vertical roller/track or the regulator attachment. (Both of those can be seen from the outside.)

If you can't move the glass around by hand, its definitely not the same issue.

checked for that and mine is totally intact there. I'm going to pull my passenger door panel off and see what if i can figure out what's missing. there is just absolutely no support on the front of this window...im starting to wonder if something is just completely missing because i can't find anything loose or broken
