Default Alternator Wire Broke

Evening,

My alternator wire is broke in a couple places on my 2002 trans am. It is the 4 pin wire. I want to replace the whole wire but not sure what it goes to since it is in the loom. Also can it be replaced easy?

Thanks, John

Its the excitor wire. Little cheesy wire GM gave us on this one.

Buy this wire....or some people have found these at auto parts stores. Splice it in, leaving as much slack on the wire you can for future fixes.....twist the wires together, solder it, then shrink wrap it.

Thanks for the link I already have a brand new plug. Carquest sells them. I am not looking to splice it in. I just need to know where it goes before the alternator?

You can fix it from the top, IF you have enough wire coming out of the harness still. Making it a 5 minute job to fix.

And yes, you don't have to solder it. Actually BUTT connectors are the way I did mine.....I was thinking twisting, solder and shrink for something else I repaired.
BUTT connectors and shrink is fine.

Where's Shalimar?
