Default alternator not charging and checked everything

I've replaced the alternator and I've tryed 3 different alternators and the alternators have tested good at both autozone and oreillys. I've also tryed 4 different batterys and I've changed the connection to the alternator. Noting seems to make it better. I checked the resistance in the wires to the alternator and there was no resistance. The only thing I can odd is the exciter wire. I cut I between the computer an alternator connection. When the cars runnin or on the on position with them connected it reads between 4.5 and 6.2 volts. When I have the wires cut I checked both ends and the computer end reads 10 volts and the alternator end is grounded out. When I reconnect them the volts drop down to about 5. I'm not sure if this is rite? Or what could be causing these problems? The volts stay around 11, they never get up to 14 like there suposed to

The PCM controls the regulator with a pulse width modulated signal. So no your not gonna see it with a volt meter correctly.
Any PCM codes?
(I'd clear codes first then run it & see if it sets one with the system whole incase you set some during prior testing)

This is not good. All wires have resistance.

Have you tested the wires connecting the battery for continuity? What does your voltage gauge on the dash say when the engine is running?

I checked the reistance again and on the cable from the battery to the alternator it had .07 and the from the battery to the fuse box it had 14. Also I'm sure how to check the continuity? An the gauge reads bout 10 volts inside the car

If the alternator tests good and you have the belt routed and tensoned properly and the voltage starts at 10V and never goes up - cances are it's an exciter wire problem.

The excitor does have 10 volts not connected to the alternator but as soon as you connect it back to the alternator the volts go to 0

If the exciter has the same voltage as your battery, it is good. Jump the car and hopefully it will charge up. Your problem may have been a bad exciter connection originally.

But shoudlnt the wire stay the same voltage even if I reconnect it. It drops to zero when its connected.

Not necessarily. Voltage is a potential between two points. It all depends on where you are taking the measurements.

Fixed the problem. If anyone else has this problem, the exciter wire (red wire that connects to the alternator) has a bad connection. I replaced the connector an part of the wire and problems are fixed now
