Default Anyone now ..... which purge valve this is.....

P0443 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit

The one under the hood on the intake

OR

The one in the rear mounted above the axle

I'm stumped. My friends scanner read this code today.............

I've had the smell of gas for almost a year now back by the rear tire and I smell it sometimes when I stop and get out of my car. I guess I'll fix it finally. Just don't know which it is.

I'd think the canister/intake one, but it could just be a loose connection or even the PCM according to the chart. I'll PM you the link.

Well there's one on the intake and one back by the rear axle...........

The one on the intake is easy to change. I guess I could just go pick one up and try it, see if the code goes away. If not I can return that one. The rear valve is a dealer only item, can't be returned if it doesn't fix it.

Thanks for the PM. Pretty serious procedure......

Thanks. I'll just pick one up and try it. If its a wiring issue I'll just leave it the way it is and do the vent mod.

Don't mean to revive this from the dead...but does anyone have a part # for this? I need to go ahead and replace it but can't locate a correct #.

Thanks.

Purge valve is the one under the hood, mounted to the intake. GM part number is 1997278.

The valve down by the gas tank/axle is the vent valve.
