Cleaned engine bay, now regulator issue.. fml
1. is the regulator inside the alternator on an LS1 car?
2. is there anything I can do to try and dry or repair it..?
3. how hard is it to change an alternator if I did **** it up?
Try air compressor as well t dry it around electrical areas.
Make sure your fuses, relays didnt get wet under the hood. Make sure boxes were sealed properly. Moisture in ther can cause problems. Try air compressor as well to dry it around electrical areas, fuse/relay housings.
All I got right now.
A repair requires an alternator rebuild.
Pretty easy. Do it from underneath the car. (Putting it up on ramps is just fine.) Remove the belt, unplug it, unbolt it, and you should be able to rotate and twist it in a way that it will come out. You can then take it to a parts store to be tested.
When you do this - be warned that the exciter wire is very fragile. (Its the thin red wire that goes in to a plastic connector on the alternator.) If you let the alternator drop on this wire, bad things will happen. If you can disconnect this wire first with a hook, screwdriver, etc. you'll be in good shape.
took the alternator out, took it to autozone.. passed all test or whatever.. the car is still over charging.. it sits at 18volts.. if i rev it goes goes down a couple and the lights just pulse and whatnot.. what else could this be guys.. what are some other spots i could check to see if they are still wet?
