Default Will this hurt?

I've got the oil pan dropped down on my 80 T/A the engine is still in the car and the oil pan is unbolted and dropped down about 5 inches. Will this hurt anything for it to sit overnight? I"m afraid something might rust. Everything should be oily its been ran in the last week and the oils been drained maybe 3 days? Will it be ok?

No its sitting in my driveway and its blue ball cold here. I was afraid it might rust the bearings. I'm trying to fix a dipstick leak and had to drop the oil pan in the car and man is it rough. I'm about to say heck with it and just pull the motor. Tomorrow I have to finish removing the old gasket material and flush the oil pan out with some diesel fuel to make sure no pieces of glue are left in there to stop up the oil screen. Thanks I didn't want to go back outside and bolt the oil pan back up lol

i wouldnt worry too much. i work at a dealer and sometimes have to leave a vehicle outside for a week or two with the engine torn down in the vehicle due to parts availability.

are you cleaning all of the oil off of anything? if the metal still has a coating of oil on it you would be fine.

Nothing is going to rust overnight, especially when still coated by the leftover oil.

Now if you left it like that for months, then yeah you'd have some rust problems.
