Default Car stays @ 3k rpm when fired up.

My has been sitting for about two months without getting fired up. Went to fire it up n the car stayed accelerated at 3k. Don't knowwhat it can be. Before that I had fired it up n it never did that. It's a 98 SS camaro.

Either your TB is sticking open a little bit because its dirty around the inside of the TB.....or the IAC valve is acting up.

grrrr everytime i see a thread like this everyone always assumes the blade is stuck or IAC......not that they are wrongbut if its been sitting, its possible the batterys not the best or that the computer for some reason doesnt know where to idle at......i was having the same issue except mine was at 2500 when my battery was bad.......i would let it idle at 2500, rev it up a little, and it would still just return to 2500.....the computer doesnt know where to idle sometimes and it needs to reteach itself if for example the battery is going bad.......drive it for 5 to 10 minutes then stop.......if it idles fine, then check your battery.....i replaced my old ac delco and the problem went away

Did you try to let it warm up? Snap the throttle? Check vac lines?

I agree with the battery assessment. I bought my '98 new and I've been through several batteries over the years and sometime when I'm getting ready to lose one, or if I need to jump it off because it's been sitting, then it has no idea where to idle. Usually letting the battery charge for a while and then restarting it a couple of times cures the problem....

X2. All the sensors need th correct amount of voltage. Even a small drop and they start to act up.

Thanks everyone for the info but I need to replace my intake seals. The old ones were worn out n had a leak.
