Default Loose/Broken Rear Hatch Lift Strut Mount

Greetings!
I have not found a single issue like mine anywhere and thought I would ask to see if anyone might be able to help me.
My '01 Ram Air TA rear hatch lift strut pivot ball mount is loose in the hatch. The strut mount moves inside the circular cutout on the hatch itself. I think it is bonded at the factory and it must have broken loose somehow. The strut is still connected to the mount, but the mount moves freely inside the hatch. There is a hole in the interior black panel AND a hole in the interior fiberglass laminate of the hatch itself, inside the holes is a small circular pad into which the ball pivot mount is screwed. The circular pad has broken loose and the ball pivot and pad move around the hole still as one unit.
I hesitate popping off the strut to investigate further, although there isn't much choice.
Anyone ever hear of such a thing?
Thanx in advance for the assist.
Mike

Do a search. There are threads already out there about this.

If you don't find anything, a body shop should be able to glue it back for you. Its probably some kind of industrial epoxy, that they would have access to.

Reviving this thread because I searched the forum and could not find a solution. I have the same problem, wondering if anyone ever developed a fix?

You can buy the ball on a stud (I do not know what size these are). You might have to remove yours and see if you can somehow thread a new one in (into some epoxy maybe?) Things like this:
