Default All firebird and trans am owners...

On a trans am, when you press the lock and unlock button on your keyless entry remote, do the headlights flip up and down every time you press it? because I just programmed a keyless entry remote with a 2001 ws6 and it does that for some reason

Nope. Mine started doing that when the gear in my headlight motor went out, but that's it.

is it grinding? if it is you'll need to replace the gear in the headlight motor, or an all new headlight motor. i believe theres a sticky/write up on it in the firebird section.

Mine dont either. On my 95 they would go off with the alarm. Its a possibilty that theres an addon security system with an output set to the headlights. Did you have a remote before? Can you confirm there is or isnt an addon security system?

I am not sure if it has an add on security. I used a spare remote that I had for my SS

My TA would do this... BEFORE I replaced the gears in the headlights with the brass units from Rodney Dickman. Just google him.

As skopers3 stated, for some weird reason, when the headlight gears are on their way out, they pop up when you lock or unlock. Used to hate it.... quite embarrassing.

Right after I swapped the gears out, it stopped and never did it again. Just the parking lights and fogs woiuld flash.

I have since have sold the car, but they were in for a year and a half and never had another issue. Quiet, too. Dickman's kit seriously is the ****. The expoxy he gives you works great with the plastic, as well as the extra brace. I simply think it's the best gear kit on the market. Money WELL spent.

Beautiful car, BTW.

If you go brass gears, I'd recommend the dickman kit because it uses the rubber inserts. You should also keep in mind (before you spend money) that, while more durable than plastic, even the brass gears can strip if your motors have had a lot of abuse.

^^ That's the BIGGEST thing right there. Make sure your motor housing is SECURE and tight. Dickman talks about this on his website:

If the headlights were silent when they went up and down it would be kind of awesome for them to flip when the alarm armed and disarmed... but they are not anywhere close to silent... lol

There are two metal stops. (From the factory, they came with plastic bumpers on them.) Check the stops and make sure the arm that connects to the motor is contacting them. If the arms don't hit the stops, then you'll still get the behavior.

Bent tabs or if the arm is not pressed on to the motor shaft correctly, the arm won't make contact with the stops.
