Default LT1 Popping

I have a 93 Trans am 383 strocker with a Procharger. Just recently it started popping like lean pops out the exhaust and there loud. So first I thought like maybe a injector was leaking or something so I took the fuel rail all off and everything looked okay, started it up and it was just popping out the passengers side exhaust and not the drivers side because I have true dual on the car. So next I thought that maybe the O2 sensors were junk so I unplugged them and the popping was less severe and it was popping out the drivers side this time. Next we took fuel pressure readings and with the key on and running everything check out fine 42-40 psi. What I noticed, with the car off when I released the pressure from the gauge to take the guage off when it got around 10 psi it started blowing air out with some gas coming out with it which I thought was very odd. Its not throwing any codes or anything. The car did this before and I called Ion (MadTuner) and took it to him so he could tune it but he only tuned part throttle of the car because when he was messing with it the tranny went out but it still ran and didn't pop at all anymore. So the tranny got fixed I stored it for the winter and never started popping at all and it got nice enough one day like 2 weeks ago and got it out and never started popping and the weather got crappy until now and thats when I went to get it out it started doing it and it pops out both sides of the exhaust but never at the same time. When you go to fit the gas it feels like it doesn't have the power and like its not getting the fuel. The motor runs fine like its not shaking if it was missing it just pops really loud out the exhaust. I'm gonna try to get a video on here and show you what its doing.

Thanks, Grant

One thing is that the fuel pump stays on all the time when you turn the key on it never primes it just keeps running and you can hear the fuel going back through the return line.

Update: The car died on me and pulled the plugs and they are like dry. I put the fuel pressure gauge on and went to release the pressure off the gauge and a lot of air came out and there should NOT have any air in the line and when you go to crank it over it starts popping off to start but it just cant like little fuel is getting it to fire and the rest is air. Why would I have air in my lines! If anyone had this problem please info me!

Thanks, Grant

Update: I took the pump out and I got the pump to sit better in the tank and when I was putting the sending unit back together I went to turn the key and nothing. I started wiggling the plug that plugs into the back of the car from the sending unit and it comes on and off and if you leave it alone and put it in the right spot it will stay on but not with the power that it should have so its got like a short in the plug so im going to order a hotwire kit to see it this all fixes my problems because I think the lean popping had to do you that pump not pushing enough fuel

You have me pretty much stumped, air in the lines is pretty much what i would think to be impossible, as long as the fuel pump is properly submerged in good gas... good gas. I think you're on the right track, checking the fuel pump, perhaps it's the wiring, but i'd also change out the fuel filter as well while you're back there, esp. if it's been a while since you've changed it. Also, you make it sound like the car's been sitting a long time (with the same tank of gas, and maybe no fuel stabilizer?), so like i reiterated earlier, try and run some fresh gas in there too... Hope it turns out well for you!

Okay so I got a hotwire kit installed and fresh 93 octane in her. Turn the key I get 45 psi. Took it out for a ride and poisoned a fuel pressure gauge so I could read it when im driving it and you hit the gas and it doesn't drop at all! When I hit the gas you can feel its not getting enough fuel still like it not there to give the motor is power and I still get the pops or called lean pops got it back pulled all the plugs and they all have brown/white tips which is bad (to lean). I have very good fuel pressure, the regulator works fine. What ive notice is that with the O2s plugged in the pops are bad even when you first start it up its popping, we unplugged them and it was better it doesnt pop at idle but as soon as you go down the road it starts doing it. My A/F gauge is reading around 15.5 when you hit the gas and when you feel the shortage of gas with the popping. Please help its getting to nice outside to have to look at my car still stuck in the shed!

Thanks Grant
