Default New power steering pump making noise

Well its a reman, I snapped the shaft in the original while trying to do a doughnut. The shaft broke where it necked down do go through the pump rotor. I have never seen this happen. Anyway I installed an AcDelco reman pump from a local dealer. I primed the pump by jacking the car up and turning the wheels from side to side until I saw no more bubbbles coming up through the resivior. I used automatic transmission fluid inseated of power steering fluid. I have done this before and never had a problem. It seems like I remember reading it was better. The pump is whinning. I may try some synthetic power steering fluid and see if it helps. Anyone have any magic tricks?

How long have you driven the car? When I replaced mine it took about 500 miles for the whine to go away.

Maybe 100 miles, it whines louder when turning and obviously under a load.

That says it all.

The air should be well out of the system with the driving you've done, so it could just be a dud.
