IMO its definately easier to replace the column than try to disect it to tighten the bolts that make the wheel loose. I had the same problem, After replacing mine, I pulled the old one apart to try to figure out waht was wrong with it...I'd say on a scale of 1-10...replacing is a 2 and disecting is a 5 or 6...There is alot of small parts and springs besides needing a steering wheel puller.

It sucks to do because there are a lot of small parts and that makes for tedious work. If you dig down in there deep enough, you wil find four bolts that hold the knuckle for the tilt. Take them out one at a time and shoot loctite on them, then torque them back down. Remember only remove one bolt at
a time, if you take them all out its a pain in the *** to put out back together.

it wasent just the loose bolts, it was the housing assembly, it was all fucked up.... a member on here ls1z28 (a retired GM mechanic for 38 years) fixed my column and a bunch of other **** for my car today and man does my car feel a lot better, the column feels like a brand new car

I just talked to an old friend who has been rebuilding columns since the 70s he said TO HIM its easy bring it to him give him an hour and 60 bux and he'll loctite the bolts. He may do others I'll check with him when he does mine.

Can you post the part number of that aluminum housing if you have it? I actually replaced by column because it was worn and the used one is worn also. I want to order that part and do it myself this time.
