Default Front driver brake locking up

Hey everyone yesterday I notices my brakes would touch the floor at stoplights and I decided to replace the front pads since I couldnt remember how old they were. Well the old pads were worn but not extremely bad. I have put the new pads on and took it around the block and it felt good. Got back and my front driver side was very hot! I compressed the piston again and I can not turn this wheel freely. Then I just noticed a leak from the master cylinder. Could a master cylinder only cause the one side to lock up? Thanks guys

fix that leak ASAP. When you installed the new pads did all of the pistons go back easily. Normally when I do a brake job I lube all of the slides on the calipers and check the seals.

Okay is it a seal you think or what leaking. I have never messed with brake stuff. The piston went back in pretty easily with a c clamp.

Also one of the dust boots was slightly torn but it still goes back in easy every time with a c clamp

Update.

Replaced brake hose and brake caliper and problem is still there. The other brakes are fine. Is it possible that the brake pad is to thick?

Lol yeah this is driving me crazy. I'm trying to think of all possibilities. I do have a line lock and was now thinking maybe it's malfunctioning but I am pretty sure that would affect both front wheels

Currently having the same problem on my 98 z28 but happening on both fronts, I replaced the master cylinder, both calipers, both hoses, caliper brackets, brake hardware, pads and rotors, and still having the same problem. I am actually having it worked on at my dealership tomorrow so I will let you know what they find, who knows may be the same problem you are having. One of the techs on my team said that it could be a tolerance problem and we received parts that were to thick and out of factory spec.

I'll clarify tomorrow if I find anything out.

It may also be your master cylinder, if that seal or cup is leaking then there is a possibility since the system is no longer completely sealed that their is not enough return pressure to retract the caliper's piston the tad bit it needs to get the pad off the rotor.

Thanks everyone. From
Reading it really seems like my problem could the "brake sliders " or pins. Whatever they are called. This sound right? If so I will apply some lube to them and see if that will break them loose.

If they are stuck and a little rusty just replace them now while you still can. I had to torch one of mine to get it out.

I had a car a few years ago with the exact same issue. It was a 99 mercury cougar. First thing I tried was the master cylinder, and it fixed the issue.
