While the engine is out.......what to replace/work on....?
I would clean and paint the engine bay. I did mine while the engine was still in the car with spray cans and while I was doing it I was thinking......gee I wish I had done this while the engine was out. lol.

Yea, good motor mounts and trans mount. Maybe a new accessory belt, change out the spark plugs?, clean the engine bay, clean and paint any parts you want. Like it was said above, you`ll be surprised with a little elbow grease how clean everything will look. Good luck!

Guys......the entire engine is gonna be brand new. LQ9 390ci....single turbo kit going on it.
I'm talking about things to do other than related to the engine or trannny at all......
I have a pretty good list so far.
Block is iron....maybe I'll paint part of it red.......to match the color of the car.

Steering Gear, firewall facelift While my engine is out I put a quick ratio steering box in, 3 turns lock to lock instead of the stock 4.5. I changed my upper and lower a-arms to tubular. Replaces all rubber bumpers, mounts, dust covers etc to Polyurethane. Dropped in lowered springs. Replaced my rag joint. Replaced all of my bolts with SS (kit from Year One), Flattened the firewall as shown in pic. Ummm That's about it.

I grabbed some aftermarket because the engineering sucked back then as far as suspension goes. These will give me a positive camber when cornering. As far as the SS hardware its 450 replacements. Year One is where I bought them for about 240.00. The kit for your car may be different.
