those of U w/ DMH Electric cutout and borla exhaust
got a question for ya,
Ive got the quad tip borla exhaust and Im wanting to put a DMH electric cutout in place of the plate.
did you guys use a 3" 3.5" or 4?
Ive been reading the 3" is actually 2 3/4 opening and I dont want any kind of obstruction. So if i get the 3.5" or even the 4" DMH will the bolt holes still line up? so there is nothing in the way of flow

I got borla with dmh 3" cutout before the axle, right under the passenger side rear seat. Believe it or not I actually gained power with cutout open, not much only around 9rwhp but still nice

He sells one specially for the borla plates, I have it and love it. I believe it's the 3". But if you go one his website, it should be the only one listed as "borla" cutout. He can sometimes be hard to reach, I know when I ordered mine he was dealing with his father being sick.

It stuck the driver's side out about 1/4", just have to adjust the passenger side out alittle.
It is not very noticeable since the tips are tucked in nicely to the bumper...so you would have to be specifically comparing side to side to notice.
Here are a some pics of mine:

nope, i figured it's almost like when they created the gen 4 fbody they save that space under the rear passenger seat just for the cutout.
any specific reason why would you want the cutout to be where the plate is?

It is the one advantage of getting the adjustable catback system over any other catback out there, you can adjust the sound be determining how much flows thru the muffler. Not sure how much more advantage you gain by placing the cutout in the I-pipe, but for me I gained 6 rwhp and cant recall the tq (more than the hp change) open vs closed for the e-cutout in the plate location.

nice car bud! thx for the pictures. hey you got a sound clip? open vs closed?
Im like the gains also. Im in the market for one right now....gonna do it all at the same time i install the headers and get a dyno tune. so my gains vs where im at now should be very noticeable.

I have this same borla system on my 00 formula with long tube headers. I have been running it open and it's too loud and annoying for just cruising. I don't have the cutout yet - it had the wide open restrictor plate in it and tonight I installed the closed plate - I love the sound with it blocked but I also want both options with the press of a switch so I am planning on installing a cutout this winter.
I compared the restrictor plate while I had it out with a standard 3 inch header collector gasket I had laying around and the holes are off just a tad. I assume I will have to purchase a cut out specifically made for the borla.

Sorry no sound clips of the car. But its Kooks LTs, catted y, borla catback. H&C made a huge difference in sound (before it, I was running just the open plate, after the install it was way too loud for cruising or just for the neighborhood...cops were always watching me go by anywhere I went)

well crap...its all good
thats funny about the cops watchin you go by. I know what you mean cause i had the borla with an open plate on my 87 383 stroked camaro with AFR's and cammed.
I'll be running Edelbrock LT's with no cats....into the borla....thats why Im getting the cutout.
Ive never heard a borla capped all the way...so im wondering what it sounds like with the cutout closed.
