Default oil light

Ive replaced my oil and oil filter a few weeks ago in my 02 T/A and attempted to do the oil reset but to no avail this was the first time Ive done it myself usually I just take it to a shop and its fine but now the oil light comes on every time I fire the car up and goes out after about 20 mins. Did I do something wrong or forget to do something or is my car just being picky?

Did you try holding the oil reset button with the key OFF and then turning to ON position while holding the button? Most Chevy are 5 pumps to the pedal but not true for F-Bodies...

Turn your ignition key to the ON position, without starting the car, just leave the key turned to On.

Press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times. Turn the key back off.

Then start your car like normal.

This is the best way to reset the oil light.

Start flashing, turn car off then back on... I've tried this push the pedal down thing before, and it never works.

If anyone wants them, I have Service Manuals for 1998-2002 Firebird/Trans Am in PDF format. No where does it say use the pedal.

Thats interesting. I would still stick with the right way it is done, but if it works and doesn't waste any time, then do whatever gets the job done. It is just weird that the procedure works when its not officially mentioned.

I will be trying this method next time it comes on. I find it interesting that its a "working method" and not made official in the service manual. You can go ahead and look up yet another thread, but I will most likely want to experience this by doing it myself. Thanks.
