Oh crap dude, i've heard of this issue before...

It was something to do with one bolt being smaller then the other.
(2 bolts hold the starter on).

Everyone that had it break off, (while still in warranty), had to replace the block :o

I've read about this and about people putting the old style starter back on and over tightening and braking the piece of the starter. I think this has scared me (again) so i replace my stock starter. I do haver 173,xxx miles so i don't want this to happen to me. Good luck midnightbluez28, hope you can get that fixed and give an update, good luck.

I broke my starter mount and a welder came over to my house, got under the car, and welded the broken piece back on and tapped it.

Been holding fine for almost 3 years.

Took him about 20 minutes.

Post pics of your break...........

IF...you can get it welded back together, you then must buy the starter with two long bolts.....truck starter. I got mine on ebay for about $65.00. Its a beast and has been great for like 3 years......

Here;s my thread, all the info you need.

Man, it was long ago. But any of the ebay ones that include the extra longer bolt. Then you just toss out your short bolt, use your old long bolt and the new supplied new long bolt. Then you have two long bolts with the two beefed up starter tab mounts on the starter.
You can see the difference. Old style has the one little tab mount, now they beefed it up to be like the other beefed up mount.

This one is just fine:

Good idea to do it now.....I wish I would have. It was a royal pain in the *** to find a welder....I called maybe 10 welders and everyone wanted the engine brought to them out of the car. I almost gave up. Then this guy said let him try, if he can't do it he won't charge me. It worked perfectly.....he charged me $150.00 to come out and do it.

I ended up buying whats called a starter bridge it went on easy, just shaved the block a little and it went right in.Havent had it on long but i would think its better than a weld. I will keep you all updated. Thanks again.
