Default cannot remove (1) headlight - 98 camaro :(

Hello,

So I've been trying to remove my headlights to do
the whistler mod. Passenger side is a breeze. Driver's
side this bolt (pictured) spins but will not come loose.
I've tried gripping the other end etc to no avail. Is
there a way to remove the headlight without taking
this bolt off?

Thanks

What exactly did you break? Didn't this cause your light
to bounce around erratically/rattle?

I broke the plastic around the nut that keeps spinning and I didn't mind because I was replacing with new headlights. You could break it and then jbweld it back.

Thanks..I did try that. However, I didn't get any further ahead.
It looks like if you can't get the bolt off you have to take the whole
front end of the car off.

If there is a work-around, please someone post a picture!

If you look at the picture you posted, I just forced some pliers in the bracket that you circled in red. After forcing the pliers I just crunched the bracket so I could tighten down the nut inside so it would stop spinning.

QFT..I took the plunge and dremelled/chipped away at the plastic with the stripped nut. Success! Think I can zip tie/red green something to get it back together..thanks man

Take the bolt down to Ace or somewhere so you can size it for a nut. I think it may be a regular M6. Nutserts are crap, had to cut mine out as well but I had new Depo Whistler lights that came with brackets. $127 a pair on Amazon.

Disassembling to color/paint part of the light. Or, just buying some that have plastic over part of it. Named after the user who came up with it.

^^These ARE NOT considered "whistlered". This would be considered "half-whistlered".

^^ THIS is a REAL Whistler Mod

If you're talking about the serrated portion of the reflector being blacked out, the ones I linked are exactly like that. The picture just doesn't show the interior well.

This is from the Amazon page:

The half whistler seems to be the better of the two for the average daily driven camaro (night driving as well.) Sure, the full whistler looks kind of cooler but I'd imagine that it considerably cuts light out put to look slightly better?

I didn't notice any light output differences. I have HID's though too, that and my lenses were totally trashed so it was a HUGE improvement.
