RPM weirdness

RPM weirdness Whether I come to a stop or Im doing 50 for example, push the clutch in. RPM goes up to about 1400, and just sits there then goes down. Doing this alot more. Recently had the battery off the car, but did it before then to. Any ideas?

I had the same problem after I disconnected the battery. Haven't drove it since, no time.....drove OK for me except the high idle. I'm in for a response and once I mess with mine maybe shed some light as well. Good luck.

Damn, I'd like to figure it out soon. It's not doing it as bad now. But I don't know. Anyone else??

I'm gonna take a look at mine and go for a spin when I get out of work. I'm gonna check: Vac lines, TB, throttle cable (I've herd stories of a thread of the steel cable breaking and catching inside the plastic sleeve), also gonna check the real time data on the cruse to see if I can spot any abnormalities. After that well I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there....

Looks like mine is the bracket that the throttle cable is connected to the intake. Its an intake off of another car and the bracket is not letting the throttle cable go enough so the throttle completely closes. Need to slightly adjust the bracket and I think it will solve my problem. All my vac lines are good and its been driving fine so I'm confident that this is my problem. Its just weird that I noticed it after I unplugged the battery. Hope this helps you in some way. Good luck.

every car I've driven idles higher when moving than stopped. generally it's intended so that re-engaging the gears at speed has less of a descrepancy in speeds: less of a jolt to get the revs back up. Though I don't know what the spec for it is in our cars.
