Filtermag - The oil filter magnet! - any thoughts?
Just wondering what anyone thought about the filtermag.- filtermag.com
I guess the whole idea is that an oilfilter can't filter the really small microns because it would clog the oil flow. So you put this reusable magnet on your filter and it'll hold the small microns that would normally pass through the filter. Its also not supposed to affect oil flow. It was in hotrod magazine and they seemed to think it was a good idea. Any thoughts on this product?

I've done this for years, only I used a donut ceramic
magnet I knocked off a junk car speaker rather than
paying retail. Sticks to the bottom of the filter very
well. Couldn't say whether it's benefited me any.
I can say however that this glowing testimonial is
beholden to no advertiser monies.

Hey! Looking back maybe my post does look like a testimonial! But hey, It does look like a good idea, but I think I will go the cheaper route and use a speaker magnet which I have many of.

I use Filtermag's on my cars. I have long tube headers on the LS1 & use a Filtermag coupled to a K&N 2006. My long tube headers are custom & different from the long tubes you have referred to. However, even if your long tubes are closer to the filter than mine, the magnet will fit between the oil pan & the filter on the engine side of the filter. I often wonder what good a magnetic filter does on an engine with an aluminum block & pistons. Have seen metalic particles on the drain plug before. So there are magnetic particles in the oil for the Filtermag to find.
