Default power steering pump pulley remover

I have never removed a pulley with a pulley remover before. Is there any specific pulley remover for my power steering pump that will make things smoother or are all pulley removers the same?

this is the one I use/used. picked up a new set at a tool dealer at a swap meet for $40.

If I remember correctly, the pulley is 'plastic' and a 'regular' 3 jaw puller will destroy it.

Yes it will, you need the gm puller. It pulls the little lip at the center of the pulley NOT from the perimeter like you could if the pulley was metal.

Crap, I'm glad I asked this before I went to Autozone and rented a pulley puller. Am I going to have to go to the dealer to get this kind of puller or where can I get it?

Edit: Also, will the puller mentioned in the link above by FirstYrLS1Z from Summit Racing work? If so I live about an hour away from Summit and can pick one up from there...

This puller is very common due to the fact that gm has been using these pulleys for quite some time. Should be readily available locally, and at harbor freight.

Autozone has the exact puller you need for rent. You'll see how it works when you look at it.

Yup they did, got it at Autzone using that part number you listed without any trouble and completely removed the power steering pump in 30 minutes no trouble except 20 minutes was spent trying to figure out how the puller worked. On the other hand I am having much more trouble with the power steering lines connected to my steering rack. Im using an 18mm wrench but they simply put wont budge... any ideas?
