Default Salvage yard power steering pump

Checking to see if there is any other GM cars that carry the same power steering pump that I can swap my 2001 camaro ls1 reservoir, pulley and bracket onto?

the saginaw type 2 pump ( metric ) is a standard GM pump....it just differs on reservoirs and inlet outlet piping locations depending on application.....for the price of a reman you can almost buy a new unit....or rebuild it yourself

You don't want to do this. It's hell. The special O ring you need to attach the tank to the pump is really hard to get (I still don't know where a regular Joe can get one...) and if one thing is off, we get a total mess.

The good news with the pump being so common is that it is infinitely rebuildable.

The bad news is that we have a good number of members here who have had hell experiences using salvage pumps and rebuilding them. (One never knows what the history of these things is!)

What are your goals here? If you want something of quality, you can deal with a company like TurnOne who can supply you with a stock pump, a custom rebuild, a stock rebuild, etc. and adjust to your needs/budget. (You don't even need a core.)

Good to know. When I looked a long time ago, I was unable to locate a p/n. I'm sure it's out there, though - and probably used across models.

Thanks for the info guys. I've got a mount, pulley and a tank that came with a parts deal. I thought the tank was good but it's got a crack. I'm thinking that I could purchase a new tank that comes with the clips and o-ring, then pickup a pump at a u-pick-it yard. They sell the pumps for 10 dollars. Trying not to get a lot in vested in my camaro front accessory setup for a swap I'm going to do.

Are the camaro pumps aluminum or iron?
