Ok, I finally had some time to get pics of my fix.
My car is a 2000 convertible.
First off, the bolt I used is an M7 8.8.
I used two different types of washers as the bigger one was needed to fit the size of the spring, and the smaller was need to fit the head of the bolt because the larger one's hole was too big. Make sure the washer isn't so big that it can't fit in the opening on the roof where it came from.
The double washers worked out well as it's extra protection to prevent the bolt from ever unscrewing.
You will need to find the original spring that was attached to the post of the sun-visor. This may require use of a magnet on a wire or some sort of ingenious tool to fish out the spring if it fell down inside the A-pillar.
Also, when you screw all this together....make sure you get the washers pretty well flush with the top of the post. This way the spring can exert pressure on both ends and the sun visor will stay where you move it when in use. Test this by hand before you put it back inside the car as it would suck to hang it back up only to realize it doesn't move.
Check out the pics below....feel free to ask questions.

Good idea on a writeup for this.
My passenger visor is on the floor in the back. I was thinking about removing the driver side one and just making a button or something to fit in there for a cleaner look but I might just tinker w/ the fix and see if it helps.

Thanks for the write up. I'll have to find the spring though. I'm sure it is lost, since i was in the middle of doing some shake down runs when the visor fell.
abadss- Who sells them for $15? Or was that a one time thing?

The spring probably flew down into the A-pillar or is still stuck in the frame of the windshield. I removed the trim around both and I had a good flashlight. I was able to find it and with a hangar with a magnet on the end, I was able to fish out the spring.
Also, if one of your visors has fallen off....be sure to do this fix on the other one right away....as it's not far behind from wearing out and falling off.

I ended up fixing mine without the spring. I used a couple washer in place of the spring and used an old interior screw from a car that had the built in washer. It works like a charm.

A friend of mine had both of his fall off and it was only a year old at the time. He took it to the dealership three different times!
I have a convertible and I use a sun shade everyday (I live in South Florida). Plus when I put the top down you have to slide the visors out of the way to engage/disengage the locks. So I use mine an awful lot and they just fell off 4 months ago on a 5 year old car.
My point is, some are made better than others, but regardless if yours is broken or not...they WILL break so you might as well do this fix.
