DS sun visor fell in my lap! My sun visor fell in my lap the other day, it looks like it was sheared off, i had the same problem with the other one but the dealer fixed that for free when i bought the car, I don't have that same luxury now, i heard something about using a washer to fix it? I did a search and can't find anything, is there a writeup somewhere? I'd really like to be able to fix this myself, please help, thanx

To the rescue...
Yes it can be fixed. You will need a sheet metal screw, a washer and a spring. Take out the other visor (the one that's not broken) and look at it and you will see what you need. Bring it to the hardware store and get the closest parts to what is on the good one. Finding the right size and stiffness spring will be the hardest part, you might have to try a few stores. The sheet metal screw goes in where the rivet that stripped out was, the washer holds the spring on, and the spring allows the visor to swing back and forth and stay where you leave it. If anyone wants me to post pix let me know, I'll take some tomorrow. Easy fix, first repair I had to do on my car.

thank you very much, i'll be the first to ask for some pics, i'm more of a visual type of guy anyway, i can fix something better if i see what im trying to do. i would suggest posting a link in this thread as im not the only one with this problem

The one on the left is the original, on the right is the one I fixed. Use as long a sheet metal screw as you can, the metal the visor arm is made out of is very soft, aluminum maybe? I put a little epoxy on the screw too just to keep it from stripping out. Take your time finding a spring that will work right, it might be tricky. The washer is a fender washer. Hope this helps.
I also had to file the ends of the spring smooth so they would sit flush against the visor arm and the washer and not bind when turning it sideways.
